Interested in joining a choir?

Now is a good time to start singing with one of our choirs. The United Gospel Choir meets on Tuesdays at 8:00 PM and the Chancel Choir meets on Thursdays at 7:00 PM. Both choirs meet in the choir room downstairs. For more information, contach Markus Williams at the church, (301) 927-6133, Ext. 22.

HIV/AIDS Ministry is in need of members. This team meets on the third Saturday of the month from 11am in the Conference room.
There is free HIV testing on the third Saturday of the month from 1pm to 5pm.The Oraquick ( rapid ) test and results are available in about 20 minutes.

Justice For Our Neighbors (JFON)

Our Immigration Clinic needs volunteers. This ministry welcomes immigrants into our church and community by providing free, high quality immigration legal services, education, and advocacy. See Cindy Harding at the church if you are interested in being a part of this ministry. On Saturdays at 1pm, the clinic will be offering Citizenship classes. Flowers needed for 2010 - Help adorn our sanctuary for worship by ordering flowers. Flowers are given in honor or in memory of loved ones and friends, for birthdays, anniversary celebrations, etc. This information is placed in the bulletin the day your flowers are placed in the sanctuary. Hyattsville Community Multicultural Health

and Wellness Fair

June 19, 2010!

10am - 4pm

You, all members of your family, as well as your friends and neighbors are cordially invited to the Hyattsville Community Multicultural Health and Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 6201 Belcrest Road, Hyattsville, MD 20782. This event is designed to promote total (holistic), personal, family, and community health and fitness. The fair will feature screenings for cancers, high blood pressure, diabetes, body mass index (BMI), dental care, HIV/AIDS, and many more. Come and hear from leading experts in the field of women’s and men’s health, discussing the latest information on nutrition, physical activity and fitness, smoking cessation, breast health, use of vitamins, safety, protection against identity theft, stress management, conditioning, and relaxation. In addition, there will be demonstrations on healthy cooking, CPR and first-aid, care for homes and pets, exercise equipment, upper body massage, aerobic dancing and exercise, various exhibitions, a scavenger hunt, Ask-the Doctor/Nurse booth, entertainment, and much more! The Hyattsville police department, various national, state and PG County health agencies as well as various hospitals and health organizations will be in attendance. Come and learn about your health - Your Health is your Wealth!! Make your home and the city of Hyattsville a safe and healthy community!!!!

Youth Bake Sale - The youth will hold a bake sale on the second Sunday of each month to raise funds for upcoming events.

Our partner school needs your help. The Mt. Ranier Elementary School is requesting white shirts in large sizes (16-18), navy blue sweaters, and shoes. Click here to go to their website for more information. We are asking for cash donations to purchase vouchers for the shoes.Please place your donations in the gray bin in the narthex. Any cash donation may be given to the church office.

Needs for our New Shower

We need new and gently used bath towels, washcloths, travel size soap, shampoo, and conditioner. We also need help with washing towels and monitoring shower use. If you have any of these items, please place them in the "shower bin" in the narthex.

Playing on the web for Jesus

Can you create powerpoint presentations? Do you like to design web pages? Are you an IT Specialist? How would you like to share your gifts and talents by joining our Communications Team? We could really use help with maintaining our web page, running the computer with powerpoint presentations in the sanctuary, and providing audio visual support for our worship services. Come to the sound booth after the service and speak with Rodney Hames, or you can reach him through the church office at (301) 927-6133 or by email at communications@fumchy.org.

Note on Children's Chapel - We are providing a dynamic children's Sunday School program from 9:50AM in the chapel. The children go to their classes at 10:10AM.There will be music, worship, bible study, crafts, and fellowship. The nursery, as always, is available for children from birth to age three.

AIDS Walk Washington is registering now. It will be held on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010, and special "Early Bird" registration rates apply through March 31st. For more information, contact (201) 332-9255 or aidswalkwashington@wcc.org. The walk is sponsored by the Whitman-Walker Clinic.

CD's Available of Each Sunday Service

You can purchase a copy of the 8:30 or 11:00 Sunday service each Sunday after the service. We only ask that you wait about 15-20 minutes after the service is over for us to finalize the CD and print the labels. You can also order CDs through the church office in person, by calling (301) 927-6133, or by email at church@fumchy.org. The cost is $5.00 per copy for each service. Other services are available throughout the year as well, such as Good Friday, Christmas Concerts, and Special Services. Clothing Wanted - Thank you for your generosity in bringing in the clothes and shoes for the homeless. Please keep them coming! Specific items that were requested by our brothers and sisters in the streets include: Bibles, flip-flops (adult sizes), feminine products, deodorant, toilet paper rolls, long johns, sweatpants and sweatshirts (men's and women's sizes), tube socks, blankets, personal size shampoo, mouthwash, body wash, ziplock bags (big enough to make individual toiletry bags).
