WHAT DOES THIS COST ?
The yearly participation fee comes to $1620.00. It is broken
down to $162.00 per month or $45 per week There is no
pro-rate for when schools are closed. Our fees are low and we
try to accommodate family budgets by making this payment
plan easy. This is broken down for convenience.
We try to provide opportunities for families needing financial
assistance. Requests should be made in writing. Sponsorships
may be available through grants and gifts to the Shalom School.
The participation fees cover all of the arts classes a student is
registered for with the exception of private instrumental or vocal
lessons. Students are responsible for their own dance attire such
as ballet slippers, tap shoes, leotards as well as, musical
instruments for private instruction. However, provisions are
often made for students needing attire or equipment - once again
to remove stigmas.
Shalom School accepts checks, money orders or cash. You will
receive a 5% discount if your participation fee is paid in full or
by semester (August and January). We are currently working on
the possibility of accepting payment by credit card as well.
OUR FINANCIAL REALITIES
As we strive to be a fully independent after school ministry that has a place for
everyone, we must conduct fund-raising activities and seek financial and in-kind
support from the community. We have received generous donations from community organizations
and individuals. However, aside from salaries, and other daily expenses,
we also provide a nutritious snack. As some area schools end their day earlier,
many children eat lunch at 10:00 am, and needless to say, they are famished by
the time they reach Shalom, and again before the end of the day.
Some of our families are not able to pay fees to have their children cared for
and nurtured following school hours. We are located in the most ethnically diverse
geographical area in the state of Maryland. The median household income for this particular
area is $55,000, but the household income of approximately 80% of Shalom's population
falls within $30,000-$35,000 and includes an average household size of 5 people.
The cost of housing in this area is extremely high and it is hard for families
to just make ends meet.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
Get involved in one or more of our volunteer opportunities: tutoring, mentoring,
assisting with Fund raising, driving the van for afternoon pick up, computer lab tutoring, helping with homework.
Participate in our Melaleuca program, and shop from an online wholesale catalog company

items (you simply change where you shop). Sponsor a child for $45.00 per week for 36 weeks or
have your company sponsor a 36-week class for $1620. (Your name or corporate name
will be included in all of our publications, brochures, programs and flyers.)
Make a one time end-of-year tax deductible contribution. (Your name or corporate

We are an IRS Non-Profit 501c(3) organization, and would be happy to "show" you
how every penny of your donation would be spent to further our goals.
