Visual arts including; World arts and crafts, drawing, painting,
cartooning, Drama; mime to monologue, puppetry, creative

Enrichment classes include: Chess and creative writing.
Not only do students learn the arts but about the arts. In music,
they are taught the history behind the instruments or type of
music, they also learn to read music, understand music theory,
and compose and improvise. In dance, they learn the origin of
the dance forms as well as the meaning behind the movements.
In art classes, students compare and contrast media of the past to
that of contemporary artists, they learn about a variety of art
tools and when to use them, and they are then unleashed to
create their own masterpieces. Math is also incorporated into the
art classes with the study of shapes, and abstract and critical
thinking by figuring out how to put "sound" on paper.
Chess develops concentration and logical thinking, develops
self-confidence, motivation, and self-satisfaction. According research by
Dr. Staivet, Margulies Education Psychologist; and Dr. Barbara Radner, Depaul University,
chess fosters the ability to research and organize and improves grade in science, math.
Students who play Chess also have an increased knowledge retention.
According to the Soviet Encyclopedia, Chess is an art that appears in the form of a game.
It fosters creativity, imagination, personality and positive social interaction with others.
Anyone can play Chess, age is not a factor. We are also in the process of
developing a competitive Chess team.
Some courses are "performance-oriented," meaning students are
specifically being trained for performance opportunities. Not all
children wish to participate in a performance ensemble, they
choose among the many alternative classes.
