Read: John 9:13-34
These verses in the passage above describe the reaction after Jesus healed the man who was born blind. Jesus healed him on the Sabbath. According to the Pharisees, Jesus had violated Sabbath regulations. One should note that Jesus would never violate the laws of God. The Pharisees did everything they could to dismiss and discredit the miracle including interrogating the man’s parents!
They asked him how he received his sight and what could he say about the man who healed him. The man answered, “He is a prophet, he put mud on my eyes, I washed and now I see.”
The Pharisees said that this man is not from God as he did not keep the Sabbath. Others asked other ridiculous questions! An example of what believers can endure from unbelievers. When our faith is under some attack, we must be aware that Satan is at work.
We should all find hope and encouragement in this story. We as humans are all born spiritually blind, and often may not see our wretchedness, and have an innate inability to conform to the moral character of God. Many might be going through issues in our lives, from family or friends, but if we truly love God and desire to know him more, we will see a glimpse of his love, his grace and his glory! Our faith will be tested but it is in that testing that our faith will be validated.
Thank you, Father, for your love and grace. In this season as we prepare for Easter let us continue to press your truths in our hearts. Help us to grow in love, recognize our brokenness, reflect, deepen our understanding of who you are and draw closer to you through prayer and acts of kindness and love.
