Read: Isaiah 50:4-9a
How are you using your God-given gifts?
“God gave me a well taught encourage tired people. The Lord wakes me up in the morning with open ears as one ready to take orders.” With this gifts the sovereign God wants us to comfort those who need to be comforted followed by listening ears to support those who need such help. As believers we need to encourage each other as needed and then evangelize those who need to be saved and come into the fold.
Let your neighbor and all the people you are in contact with know about Christ’s love. The savior of the world who was born to save us. Explain who Jesus is, how he came to the world as man to feel like we feel, live like we live, work on the earth as “son of man.” He had no sin but was crucified on the cross for the sins of you and me.
Our gift of open ears makes us ready to listen to what our father in heaven has planned for us. This includes taking the Gospel to the ends of the world with the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”
Members of the household of faith, we need to use this Lent period as a reminder of the love God has for us by sending his only son into the earth to die on the cross for our sins. Therefore as believers we have to practice random acts of kindness, take care of our neighbors and all the people we come in contact with daily. We need to be good and fair to our colleagues at work and outside so that they will see Christ in our lives. We need to love and provide for the poor and needy giving as much as you are led to. Let the light of God blaze through you.
Self-check time is now with this Lent season leading to the cross and finally to the resurrection. Spend time in the word of God, look into yourselves and drop any sin that might be holding you down in using your God-given gift to its maximum effect. Remember Jesus paid the utmost price by giving his life on the cross to wash away our sins.
Thought for the day: Meditate on the word of God so you can learn about his character and apply his principles.
Dear Father, help us to be open to your prompting and to be instruments of your love wherever we are in Jesus, the risen Savior’s name, we pray. Amen.
