Read: Psalm 121

Ahhhh can you hear Richard Smallwood or our own Gospel Choir singing Total Praise?  Well in case you didn’t know, but I am sure you do, total Praise is Psalm 121, and what a beautiful Psalm it is!!!  Please allow me to unpack it just a bit.

Do you find yourself facing difficulties in your job, your family, your living situation, your finances, your personal life, and it is weighing you down?  Are you losing sleep because of worrying, not sure what you are going to do or how you will get through?

Please allow me to suggest you turn to Psalm 121 and read, or better yet sing it out loud…“I lift my eyes to the hill…where does my help come from…my help comes from the Lord.”   No matter what you may be facing lift your eyes to the hill, the Lord is there ready to be your help, like he has been for me when I didn’t think I could go on and he sent an angel to get me the help I needed.  When I lost a job and didn’t know what I was going to do he opened another door for me.  When I was homeless he protected me and showed me what path to take to get help.  When I hit rock bottom he broke the chain of alcoholism off of me and has helped me remain sober for 33 years.

So, in a nutshell, and with all that is going on in the world today, let us lift your eyes to the hill knowing that no matter what it is the Lord is our help!!

Oh, most gracious and loving Lord help us to remember no matter what we are going through we can turn to you knowing that is where our help comes from, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
