Read: John 9:35-42
Sunday was mostly known for worship and attending church. However people remained blind not realizing there is more to understanding what it meant to follow Jesus. Just because we attend church and even quote scriptures does not put one on a pedestal. If we are not careful it can create a false perception of how we are to represent Christ along with making a person feel prideful. Jesus reminded us we should always remain humble. (“Whoever honors himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be honored” Matthew 23:12. Allowing ourselves to be humble brings the knowledge of how to walk in his righteousness and project the light we are meant to carry for him.
Jesus also indicated his position as Son of Man. Jesus is recognized as the Son of Man 12 times in the book of John. This highlights his majestic being and his position as the Messiah, his divine nature and the importance of humbling ourselves before him. He made sure we understand the way to eternal life and to escape the pattern of sin that has influenced many lifestyles in the world. We celebrate the one who shows us the way to humility, a life without sin and the ultimate example of what it means to spread love.
Dear Father, as we celebrate this Lenten season, let us focus on the love Jesus portrayed by dying on the cross so we may have the opportunity to live. Let it become so great it will overshadow the hate and bring more glory to the words of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen
