THE SEASON OF LENT

Read today's Lent devotion here.
As Christians we know that Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting and giving.

During Lent we:
  • We strive to seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scriptures.
  • We strive to practice self-control by fasting.
  • We strive to serve by giving alms in other words, giving assistance, give to charities
  • We try to abstain from luxuries

We also try to have conversation of heart as we seek a closer relationship with God and be a better person.
The following scriptures can also help us as we seek a closer walk.

All the letters of St. Paul

The Book of James
Matthew 4:11
Mark 1: 12-13
Luke 4:1-13
Acts 1:3

The symbolism of 40 is all over the Bible - this is the time for God to establish new things in what He created. Through hardships lasting 40 days or years, we endure to become more spiritually aware of our need for God. God allow us to go through challenges in order to grow spiritually.

40 also highlights God's patience with us, by using that period of time to symbolize a period of spiritual growth.

So WHAT are you prepared to give up and HOW are you preparing to increase your faith and have a closer relationship with God?
