Read: Genesis 17:1-7
The Sign of the Covenant Wow!!! What an Intimacy!!! What an Encounter!!! Let us close our eyes with our heads bowed and just imagine our God saying to the hearing of each of us during this season of Lent that “I am God almighty, walk before me and be blameless. What do you feel? How do you feel? Are you ready? Are you willing? In this our world of sin and greed all around us, can our God count on us to obey his commandments? Can he count on us, young and old to love and obey him first, and love our neighbors as ourselves? (John 13:34) Can we do to others as we would want them to do to us? (Matt 7:12; Lk 6:31) Let us have a glimpse into the covenant our God is ready to have with us and the generations after us-(verse 7)-to multiply us exceedingly, spiritually and physically (v 6). A covenant is a written agreement or promise usually under a seal between two people or more parties especially for the performance of some action. So, where do we all stand? Are we ready to re-commit ourselves to this covenant of old that still applies today as we are all descendants of Abraham. Let us re-dedicate our lives to our almighty God and walk blameless before him while trusting in his faithfulness to multiply us and generations after us and then, obey his commandments. Lord teach us, lead us. We cannot do it in our own strength but your Spirit can guide and empower us. During this Lenten season and beyond, forgive our carelessness and disobedience. Father draw us closer to you, in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Susan Osifade Comments are closed.
